This case is particularly hard to write about, especially because Mr. HT and I ended up becoming really close during the course of his trial. He died in a motorcycle accident about a year later. John was an all-around great guy and quite possibly the very last person on earth you would want to start a bar fight with. We were able to obtain an acquittal of all felony charges by proving his actions were in clear self-defense. The State later dismissed the remaining charge that they jury was hung on.
